O'Neill Funeral Home - Cumberland Obituary

Constance J. Barrette, 87, of Cumberland, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, Monday, May 22, 2023. She was the beloved wife of Edmond S. Barrette Sr. Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late George and Rose (Ethier) Cournoyer.

Connie married Edmond Barrette on Dec. 28, 1957, beginning their 65 year marriage. Connie and Ed had 5 children, moving their young family to Cumberland in 1962, where she lived the rest of her life.

Connie loved decorating her beautiful home, often with the skillful help of her husband. Together they wallpapered, painted, and provided a loving, welcoming home. With a large, close, caring extended family, the sounds often heard at Connie’s home included adults talking and laughing, and children playing, swimming and splashing. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Connie will be missed by all who loved her and held her dear.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her children, Elizabeth Hefferman, Edmond Barrette Jr., Brian Barrette, Daniel Barrette, and Jennifer Hoard; her grandchildren, Jennifer Ramsay, Gerald Hefferman, Scott Hefferman, Patrick Hefferman, Anna Barrette, Madeleine St. Andre, Victoria Hoard, Timothy Hoard, Tammy Trottier, Amy Dos Santos, and Jesse Ross. She also leaves her great-grandchildren, Devin Ward, Alexandria Ward, Anthony Ward, Matthew Hefferman, Benjamin Trottier, Lily Trottier, Jacob Rivet, Olivia Rivet, Lucas Dos Santos, and Cheyenne Ross. She leaves siblings, George Cournoyer, Paul Cournoyer, Pauline Bouvier, and Theresa Ritacco.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Monday, June 5, 2023 at 10:00 AM in Saint Joan of Arc Church, 3357 Mendon Road, Cumberland. Burial will follow in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter, RI.

Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in her name to HopeHealth Hospice & Palliative Care, 1085 North Main St., Providence RI 02904, would be greatly appreciated.
