Not sure what to say?

I spent less than one school year at Westport High. Mrs Cameron was THE stand out teacher there and among the top in my undergraduate career. Her teaching of critical reading to deduce an author's bias was excellent. I'm saddened to hear of her death, but glad to hear that she contributed so much until the end.

John and Katie, I am so sorry to hear. Your mother was a huge part of my life; not only as an incredible teacher and mentor but as a family friend. I've been blessed to know her.

Mrs. Cameron was such an inspiration to me as both an English teacher and as the advisor to The Warcry. She insisted that we THINK, and I do not know of anyone of her Westport students who did not have the utmost respect for her. I remember signing up for her 0700 class to ensure she would be my teacher....what 17 year old does that without a compelling reason? I saw John at the Class of 1969 reunion a few years ago and we shared some memories. I know I was amazed, yet not surprised to...

"Mr. Graeter, this theme would get an A from most students but I'm giving you a B. I know what you're capable of and I know you just sat down the night before, wrote one draft and turned it in. I expect more from you." That was my senior year at Westport High in 1965. I have never forgotten it or Mrs. Cameron.

Like so many others, I was deeply inspired by her. I was blessed to have her for English class as both a sophomore and a senior. She recruited me to join the school...

I would like to extend my condolences to the family. Death is never something we get use to. But know during this time you are not alone. Our Creator promises better days ahead. He will give you the strength needed to get through this difficult time.

Mrs. Cameron was the teacher that challenged me, encouraged me, and gave me the confidence I needed to go on to college. I truly believe my love for learning that continues today is the result of Ms. Cameron's enthusiasm for learning. Thank you for all that you gave me in that one senior English class at Westport in 1970 through 1971. pw

How fortunate are so many of us who had the pleasure of working with and having the support of Connie in many different roles and situations. We have lost a friend and colleague who gave us so much over the years of her time and talents. My sympathy is extended to her entire family.

Mrs.Cameron told me that she thought I would like "the life of the mind." She said she could see me enjoying life in the Ivory Tower. Well, I went on to get a Ph.D. and become an educator. And of all the teachers I had in my education, I think she was the best! She was a wonderful, caring, brilliant lady. It makes me sad she passed away---I'm teary now---but her influence will endure.
