Constance ?Connie? Whitman Gresock, 81

Connie Gresock, 81, Punxsutawney, died Monday, March 3, 2014 at her daughter Cindi?s home.

She was born on January 21, 1933, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Gus Charles Whitman and Yvonne (Kubeldis) Whitman.

On July 10, 1954, she married William H. Gresock, who preceded her in death on May 22, 2003.

She was a member of the Ss. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church of Punxsutawney.

She loved bingo, cards, gambling, animals, reading books herself, and reading books to her students.

She was a past member of the Woman?s Auxiliary of the V.F.W., Past President of the Perry Township Fireman?s Ladies Auxiliary, Perry Township Fireman?s Auxiliary, the Byzantine Activities Group, and a Township Auditor for Young Township.

She previously worked at the catalog desk at Montgomery Ward, then worked at the Punxsutawney Memorial Library, and then worked as a Library Aide for the Punxsutawney School District at the Mapleview Elementary School for 30 years and retired from there.

Surviving relatives include two daughters, Cindi Kallas and husband Dave of Punxsutawney and Patricia (Gresock-Fisher) Newcome and Orvie of Punxsutawney; four grandchildren, Stefanie Dixon and husband Mark of Pittsburgh, Lindsay Kallas of Punxsutawney, William Fisher and wife Kelly of Punxsutawney, and Orvis Lorn Newcome III of Punxsutawney; five sister-in-laws, Anna Whitman of Punxsutawney, Ann Bobalik and husband Pete of Punxsutawney, Barbara Drury and husband Pete of Flint, MI, Mary Lou Gigliotti of Warren, PA, and Marian Palmer and husband John of Baxter, PA; two brother-in-laws, Andrew Gresock and wife Ruthie of Punxsutawney and John Francis Gresock of Punxsutawney; numerous nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved; and four beloved cats, Quinnie, Sammy, Calamity, and Shiloh.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Phillip Art Whitman.

Friends will be received from 3 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney. A Parastas Service will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5, 2014.

A divine liturgy will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Ss. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church with Father Simeon Sibenik officiating.

Interment will be in Ss. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Cemetery in Horatio.

Memorial contributions may be made, in memory of Mrs. Gresock, to the Clarion/Forest VNA Hospice, Punxsutawney Memorial Library, or to the Carnegie Library for the Visually Impaired.
