Constance Gregg

Constance Gregg, 92, of Dover, died Monday, October 17, 2011, at Legacy Heights Nursing Home. She was born January 7, 1919, at Hammond, Indiana to Paul and Florence Berwanger Gauthier. She graduated from Saint Catherine's School of Nursing in 1939 and worked at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital in Dyer, Indiana for 23 years before moving to Arkansas to be near her daughters and grandchildren. She was employed at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center for five years before retiring. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and reading in her spare time. She was a member of Saint John's Catholic Church and was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 65 years, James Gregg; a daughter, Donna Darby; a brother, Robert Gauthier; and a nephew, Ronald Armold. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Jo Ann and Denver Walker of Hector; her sister, Florence Armold of Illinois; six grandchildren, James, Charles, Christopher and Michelle Myers, Denver Walker Jr. and Tracy Standridge; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two nephews, Richard and Michael Gauthier; and a niece, Pamela VanderMeyden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, October 20, 2011, at Saint John's Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. P. Chuma Ibebuike celebrating. Burial will be in the Catholic section of Rest Haven Memorial Park under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service. Pallbearers will be Denver Walker Jr., Kendel Standridge, Fred Standridge, Kyle Myers, Christopher Myers and Charles Myers. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, at the funeral home.
