Constance Erickson Johnson who died in New London, NH, on January 16, 2024, at the age of 95.
Ms Johnson was born April 11,1928 and raised in Corona, Queens, NYC. Though she lived outside of Corona most of her life, she retained lifelong pride in being a New Yorker. From an early age, she developed her beautiful soprano voice, performing at churches and at Wheaton College (IL), where she majored in zoology. Her degree in hand, Connie assisted in research at Pfizer Labs. In the early 1950’s, she become reacquainted with E. Alan Johnson, whom she had met as a toddler. They married in 1954, and traveled together throughout the Midwest as Alan advanced his business career. The young couple settled permanently in Westfield, MA. There, Connie and Alan became the parents of Kathy, Cindy and Brad. As a mother and homemaker, Connie was legendary for her Christmas Eve smorgasbords and exquisite sewing skills. In addition, was active in her church’s music program and led Neighborhood Bible Study programs in her community, volunteered at local schools, hospitals and nursing homes. Connie was predeceased by her husband Alan after 66 years of marriage. She is survived by her children Kathy Johnson Neely (David Neely), Cynthia Johnson (Jeffrey Maguire) and Brad Johnson (Jacqueline VanderBrug), seven grandchildren, and her sister Audrey Erickson Smith. The family is grateful for the loving care Connie received from both Woodcrest Village and Lake Sunapee Region VNA & Hospice. A private memorial service is planned.
