Schrader Funeral Home and Crematory - Ballwin Obituary

Rankin, Constance B. (nee Anderson ), passed away, Monday, September 16, 2024.  Beloved wife of Thomas G. Rankin, III; cherished mother of Caroline R. (Matthew) Embleton, Thomas G. (Jennifer) Rankin, IV and Amy G. (James) Kelly; loving grandmother/Mimi/Bammie/CC of Jacob and Lauren Embleton, Emma (Sean) Staggs, Thomas and Claire Rankin, Jimmy and Beatrice Kelly; our sister, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and friend.

Her family was EVERYTHING to her as she was ever so proud. She was an enormous presence in the lives of those she deeply loved.  Everyone who knows her will agree, to have her undivided attention in conversation and to laugh with her is the greatest and most memorable.  She had a strong wit and infectious humor that all enjoyed.

Her “Go big or go home attitude” was seen in her extravagant celebrations, magical holidays, and gatherings.  She found joy in gift giving for every occasion. This also extends to her elaborate feasts of food with lengthy preparations amongst  exquisitely designed settings.   Creating a warm, beautiful home for her family to enjoy was important to her.  In addition, she would open her arms to welcome anyone in her home.

Her endless treasures, “her” possessions from her family, fill heavy boxes in her basement.  Intimate notes, special events, letters, photos, articles, programs, art, trinkets and more filled her heart. She refused to throw these away, and delicately packed them to take wherever she lived.  Each of these items had a story and meaning that she could recall in perfect detail.

Her attachment to birds was unique and brought her much joy.  They filled her home for over 40 years as she loved their beauty, songs, and relationships to one another.

This special woman was an anchor and the glue to our family.  Her absence will leave a hole in our hearts, but the love she has shown us all will live on.

Not sure what to say?

We are so sorry and saddened for your loss. Connie´s influence and sweet smile runs deep in our household and the memories will last forever. We´ve had finches, dogs, firecrackers and even named one of our neighbors "Aunt Connie" because of the love she showed us. We are so sorry for your loss but so appreciative to have enjoyed and known her for so many years. With Love, Chris and Becky Hager

Tom, it's been a lot of years since we have been in touch. You and Connie lived in our building in Beau Jardin. At that time, we weren't married; you lived across the hall from Jerry, and my apartment was upstairs. When Connie discovered she and I both worked at Monsanto in the same building, she asked if she could ride with me. She was always a lovely person; and I enjoyed her company. We are so sorry to learn she passed away. Please know we extend our very deepest sympathy to you and...

My deepest condolences to you all. So sorry to hear of the passing of DEAR CONNIE. I will keep you all in my prayers.

So sorry for your loss Emma...She certainly lived a great life. Remember the good times (they take the sorrow away little by little)
