Constantine "Gus" Chinonis, age 82 died peacefully at his home in Grand Blanc, Michigan on Sunday, December 1, 2013. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 5, 2013 at the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 2245 East Baldwin Road, Grand Blanc, Michigan, Father Angelo Maggos officiating. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 - 7 p.m. Wednesday at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, Michigan 48507. A Trisagion service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Chinonis was born in Skortsinou, Greece in 1931 son of the late Dionysios and Panayiota (Yeotis) Tsinonis (Chinonis). Gus came to the United States in 1950 to the home of his brother Elias and sister-in-law Katie Chinonis, where he joined his younger brother, John. Both brothers lived several years with Elias and Katie. Gus was a realtor and insurance agent and owned several restaurants. He and his brother, John, developed and owned YaYa's Flamed Broiled Chicken for over 35 years. He served as President of the local chapter of the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA) as well as the District Governor of the State of Michigan. He also served as a Genesee County Board Commissioner and was a member of several other organizations. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Sandra, of almost 50 years and four beloved children and spouses: daughter, Elaine (Scott) Tomrell, daughter, Tina (Chris) Anganis, son, Denny (Ida) Chinonis and daughter, Petrina (Matthew) Stark; twelve grandchildren, Alexis, Luke and MacKenzie Tomrell; George, Gus and Alex Anganis; Calvin, Constantine and Gabriella Chinonis and Pano, Deano and Alexandra Stark; beloved brothers, Eli and wife Katie of Grand Blanc, Dr. Pano Tsinonis of Greece; sister, Vaso Hasoula of Greece and brother, John and wife Linda of Fenton. He also leaves his beloved brother-in-law, Ken and wife Doly Huber; sister-in-law, Karen and husband Charles Gifford; as well as many wonderful and loved nephews, nieces, great nephews and great-nieces. The family thanks all the many family members and friends for their support throughout Gus' life and in his time of illness. As a tribute to my husband and from our family who love you; You were our inspiration and guide. We thank you for your untiring work ethic, endless love and continual support. Your life will live on through us and generations to come and in the lives of those you helped and mentored. Missed beyond words Gus. You made a difference in many people´s lives. RIP.

I was so very sorry to hear of Gus's passing. He will be truly missed. He most hospitable and generous man. His heat was huge. I'll never forget him picking me up at the airport and driving me to McLaren to see my mom. My daddy, Ted Fotiou, respected Gus a lot.Gus will be missed.

I am deeply sorry for your loss, Sandy and family. I worked for Gus at the restaurant in Swartz Creek some years ago and I have never had an employer that I truly felt was a friend also. He treated all employees the same way. May god be with you and keep you in your time of loss. Pam Cohen

Gus was a wonderful man who loved his family, heritage, and community. He was a pleasure to speak with at family functions over the years.
My father, Nicholas Sr., would also like to extend his condolences. I know my parents enjoyed the many occasions they had the opportunity to be with Gus and the entire family.
