Our dear beloved mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, Consuelo Baldonado Salinas, age 89, of La Mesa passed away Sunday, December 4, 2016 at La Posada-Mesilla Valley Hospice surrounded by her loving family. "Chelo", as she was fondly known to family and friends was born September 14, 1927 in Helena, Montana to Santiago and Zenaida Espinoza Maldonado. She was a homemaker, a member of the Roman Catholic Church, The Sacred Heart League and was an avid Bingo player.
Survivors include her nine children, Cenaida Duran, Alberto Salinas, Emma Salinas, Susie Garcia, Connie Rios, Maria Elva Salinas, Luis Salinas, Jr, Jose Salinas, and Tamara Lopez; her brother, Gilbert Maldonado of Albuquerque; a sister, Gloria Maldonado of Las Vegas, NM and brother-in-law, Marcelo Salinas. Other survivors include twenty-two grandchildren, thirty-five great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Chelo was preceded in death by her husband of forty-four year, Luis Salinas, her parents, and the lady that raised her, Carla Maldonado; her brothers, Raul and David Maldonado; two sisters, Esperanza Carrillo and Sophie Dominguez, and a grandson, Andres Salinas.
Visitation for Mrs. Salinas will begin at 2 PM Thursday, December 8, 2016 in San Jose Catholic Church, 353 E. Josephine Street in La Mesa, where the Prayer Vigil is scheduled for 2:30 PM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated immediately thereafter. Cremation will follow and Inurnment of cremains will take place at a later date.
Serving as casket bearers will be Isaac Garcia, Aram D. Sanchez, Luis Salinas III, Diego Salinas, Aiden Milam and Andrew Salinas. Honorary bearers will be Joseph J. Salinas, Aram D. Sanchez, Jr, Jeremy Garcia, Isaac Garcia, Jr, Gavin Sanchez, Matthew Sanchez, Angel Salinas, Mathew Salinas, Josiah Sanchez, Jaybin Sanchez, Gabriel Sanchez, Wright Sloan, Eli Duran, Erick Lopez, Erick Lopez, Jr and Javier Delgado.

God has just received another angel in heaven! Mom (Hope Carrillo) loved her sister so much and now they are both catching up in heaven on what's been going on. Makes me happy just thinking about it! Rest in Peace Aunt Chelo, you will be missed!
