DEANE Mrs. Cora West Deane, passed away February 23, 2013 in Hamilton, NJ. A native of Thomson, GA, Mrs. Deane was born to the late Ockey West and Mrs. Rebecca DuBose West. After the family relocated she received her early education from the Duval County Public School System, graduating with honors from Stanton High School- Class of 1939. Furthering her education she attended Edward Waters College in 1941 and in 1944 transferred to Florida Normal and Industrial College (now Florida Memorial College) where she obtained her teaching certification. Mrs. Deane taught in Suwannee County, FL schools. She then pursued a career with the IRS where she was employed for twenty years of dedicated service and then transferred to the U. S. Social Security Administration Office until retiring. Mrs. Deane is survived by her son, Edmund A. Deane (Doe'Rain); grandchildren, Marcus Deane and Miss. Danielle Deane; nieces, Mrs. Deloris Dorsey (Willie), Mrs. Shirlene Austin (Eugene), Ms. Beverly E. Shields and Mrs. Debrah West Daniels (James); nephews, Ronald O. West (Theresa), Richard B. West (Fredette) and Dr. Bruce E. West (Necole); sister-in-law, Mrs. Grace P. West; goddaughters, Ms. Marilyn Cato Lee and Ms. Aldonia Cato; a number of grand nieces and grand nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11 AM, Friday, March 8, 2013 at the Rufus E. Payne Memorial Chapel of the mortuary, with Elder Toby J. Johnson, Zarephath Tabernacle, officiating. Mrs. Dean will rest in the mortuary for visitation Thursday from 5 PM until 8 PM (where the family will receive friends at 5 PM), and Friday morning from 9 AM until the hour of service. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends are asked to assemble at the mortuary under the direction of ALPHONSO WEST MORTUARY, INC., 4409 Soutel Dr., 904-766-9671.
