May his memory be for a blessing.

God welcomed home another one of His beloved. Though he will surely be missed this side of heaven, CT served faithfully for almost 96 years. I will continue to lift up my dear friend Denise and the rest of the family in the days, weeks and months to come. May the memories of all the good times and his legacy bring you comfort during your grief.

I will never forget the great kindness Rev. Vivian showed me when I first met him when I was a young news reporter, heavily pregnant in the broiling summer of 1996. I complained that it was difficult to get in touch with other Civil Rights icons who could give a first-hand account of the movement. He took the trouble to reach out to them to get in touch with me. In the 1980s I had the honor on attending a conference led by Rev Vivian. It was very eye opening and has guided me in my fight for civil rights.
