Pedicini, Cosimo Anthony
December 18, 1929 - March 2, 2018
Cosimo Anthony Pedicini was born in Summit, NJ on December 18, 1929 and passed away peacefully on March 2, 2018 surrounded by family at the age of 88 in the home he built with his wife. Graduate of Springfield College and Columbia University where he received his Master's in Physical Therapy, he served in the Air Force as a First Lieutenant and worked as the Physical Therapist at SAC Air Force Base in Ramey, Puerto Rico.
Upon honorable discharge, he found winters in New Jersey too cold after time spent in Puerto Rico and later moved to Sarasota. Cosimo worked at Happiness House, a rehabilitation center for handicapped children and adults, and later pioneered the first Physical Therapy Department at Sarasota Memorial as the hospital began to expand. After a few years, Cosimo opened his private practice where he serviced patients for 57 years and was highly revered within the Sarasota community.
He enjoyed all sports playing football, baseball, and basketball in High School and College. Cosimo also shared his love of the outdoors with his family as they regularly played tennis and golf while enjoying canoeing, swimming the Siesta Beach buoys, and camping around the country together.
A devoted husband and loving father, Cosimo is survived by his wife Carmen of 62 years; daughters Lorraine (Kevin) Smith and Kathryn; son David; sister Madeline Harney; and grandchildren Matthew (Kelly), Adam (Ashley McNamee), James, and Sarah Smith.
A private memorial service will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery.
Cosimo, a loving family man known for his generosity, kindness, humility, dedicated work, and care for all he met, is loved and will be missed dearly by all who had the blessing of knowing him.
