I'll never forget the kindness and structure that Mr. Apllewhite provided at the Academy of Dallas.

Mr Applewhite was a very kind man that I had the pleasure of knowing since I was a young child at Good Street Baptist Church. He always had a kind smile and radiated his love of Christ. I first met brother Cotrill Applewhite, Jr., over 28 years ago, upon joining the Good Street Baptist Church where he was already a member and a Deacon. When I was ordained as a Deacon three years later, he invited me to sit next to him in the designated section for deacons. Although we were true worshippers, we were also chatterboxes. I received a call today informing me of your loss. My heart wanted to reach out and touch the family because having taught you Dana and Cotrell at Daniel Webster was a privilege and a joy. My prayers are extended to you all and your Mon. May God bless and keep you!

May God comfort the family of Mr. Applewhite during their time of loss. I had the good fortune of working with him during my time in Dallas ISD many years ago. He was a gentleman and someone who showed incredible restraint and foresight when dealing with the toughest of situations. May he rest in peace.

As a kid, this man was my guardian and protector on the numerous occasions as I ventured into a locker-room of giants during the great football season (1980) at South Oak Cliff. I have no doubt I'll see him again in Heaven.
