Mr Applewhite was a very kind man that I had the pleasure of knowing since I was a young child at Good Street Baptist Church. He always had a kind smile and radiated his love of Christ. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him and were touched by his life. To his family, as you mourn, I am sorry for your loss and even more sorry that my husband and I were unable to attend his homegoing celebration as he won his battle with the ills of this world and went home to sit on the right...

I received a call today informing me of your loss. My heart wanted to reach out and touch the family because having taught you Dana and Cotrell at Daniel Webster was a privilege and a joy. My prayers are extended to you all and your Mon. May God bless and keep you!

May God comfort the family of Mr. Applewhite during their time of loss. I had the good fortune of working with him during my time in Dallas ISD many years ago. He was a gentleman and someone who showed incredible restraint and foresight when dealing with the toughest of situations. May he rest in peace.

As a kid, this man was my guardian and protector on the numerous occasions as I ventured into a locker-room of giants during the great football season (1980) at South Oak Cliff. I have no doubt I'll see him again in Heaven.
