Coy was born on May 22, 1929 and passed away in December 2019. They relocated to Chandler, where Coy attended middle school in Mesa and Chandler before the district decided to make a place for Black Children. After dropping out of Arizona State University in 1949, Coy was drafted by the United State Army and served in Korea. A visitation will be held Friday, December 20, 2019 from 6-8pm at Bueler Mortuary 14 W. Hulet Dr. Chandler, Arizona 85225. Services will be Monday, December 23, 2019 10am at the Chandler Center for the Arts 250 N. Arizona Ave. Chandler, Arizona 85225.
Mr Payne was the assistant principal during my time at Chandler Jr High School from 74-75. He prettty much knew every student's name and made it a point to make sure you were comfortable and confident in your studies. I've used a couple of his methods to apply to raising my own kids and for that I'm grateful. Rest in Peace Mr. Payne. The Good Lord has a special place for you in Heaven.

I am Blessed to have had Pappa "Coy" Payne introduced into my life. Filled with Wisdom, Love and Joy. I will miss bringing you Chicken, Fresh Alaska Salmon and nice bottle of wine when I visited. The family always welcomed me into their home to celebrate holidays and birthdays. Beautiful Family will miss you greatly. But knowing you are in your eternal life is a warm feeling.
