Mr. Craig Vincent Mims was born March 10, 1956 in Bunkie, Louisiana and passed away March 20, 2012 in Conroe, Texas. Craig was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was the loving son of Mickey Mims and the late Billy Earl Mims.
Craig is survived by his son, Vincent Mims and wife Laura; daughter, Leslie Mims; seven siblings, Theresa Smith and husband Gene, Leah Lutonsky and husband Jim, Annette Rushmore, Colette Franklin and husband Larry, Doug Mims and wife Carlene, George Mims and Brandon Mims and wife Crystal; and a host of nieces and nephews and cousins.
Craig enjoyed outdoor activities, fishing, golf, time with his pet dog, Rocky, Facebook, NHRA and large gatherings with his family and friends. Everywhere he went in Conroe, there was someone he knew with whom he could strike up a conversation. He was proud of his family and children who gave him much joy. All his nieces and nephews will surely miss his teasing and practical jokes.
His career was centered in the gas turbine industry, mainly in the Houston, Texas area. A special thanks to his place of employment, Hallmark Industrial Supply, his doctors at MD Anderson, and his beloved classmates from Conroe High School class of '75, and special neighbors in Sunset Ridge, The Sims family, The Reese family and the Wisnoski family.
Visitation is Friday, March 23, 2012 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Cashner Funeral Home and funeral services are Saturday, March 24 at 12:30 p.m. in Cashner Colonial Chapel.

My deepest heartfelt sympathy for the loss of the biggest heart I ever knew.
A loving son, father who adored his children Leslie and Vincent, brother, uncle, and cousin. A wonderful man to have as a neighbor, and he so enjoyed his high school and reunion friends. He loved you all...
He was first and foremost for many years my best friend and confidant and we shared many stories of our big families, tales of our youthful antics, drag races and John Force, country music or folk. Or just simple quiet time. We laughed, we cried, we shared. His family knows best the man he was and I for one am honored to have been in his life. Love Always, Lucy

I am so sorry for your loss. I pray this bible verse comforts in your deep sorrow.
John 14:1-4 “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.”

I too was fortunate to call Craig a friend. We graduated together in 1975 and he reconnected with me on FB after all these years. When I heard the news, after the initial shock, I remembered a conversation at Christmas we had about how much he missed his dad. Craig is now with his dad again and that makes me feel somewhat better. Rest in peace old friend, until we meet again. Rhonda Reagan Valentine Philips

Dear Mims Family,
I'm sending you my love and prayers to you. He could always make me laugh and put a smile on my face. He was my best guy buddy. I just sang to him on his birthday and he laughed and said sing it again there's 15 people who want to hear. So me being guillable I sang it again and poor Leslie had to hear my awful singing voice. I loved his dry sense of humor, the jokes he use to send to me as well as spiritual messages. He was so prescious and a great friend. I'm going to miss him so much, but I know he is in Heaven telling jokes and making the Angels laugh and smile.

Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to Craig's family. When we moved back to the Conroe area a few years ago, he loved to come out to our house and play 42. He'll be greatly missed and we were so fortunate to call him our friend. I'll miss him calling on the phone and saying " hey " Melva Jo", this is Craig " and then he'd laugh. Wonderful memories. He was always funny, had a heart of gold, just like in high school. Will keep you all in prayer that you may be comforted during this time.

Miss Me but Let Me Go
When I come to the end of the road, And the sun has set for me, I want no rites in gloom-filled rooms, Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little--but not too long, And not with your head bowed low; Remember the love that we once shared Miss me--but let me go. For this is a journey that we all must take, And each must go alone. It's all a part of the Master's plan, A step on the road to home. When you are lonely and sick at heart, Go to the friends we know, And busy your sorrows in doing good deeds. Miss me - but let me go.

We were so sorry to hear about Craig's passing. He was a dear friend and a great organizer for our CHS class of '75 reunions. He worked tirelessly to reach out to as many classmates as he could so they would be included in all reunions, big and small. He was unselfish in taking time to relay information about any of our friends whether it was good or bad. Mark Turnbull and Mark Castleschouldt enjoyed meeting him for lunch on several occasions and share stories about the good ol' days. Craig was a very caring and fun person who will truly be missed. With love,

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

I was so fortunate to re-connect with Craig after I moved back to the Conroe area...I got to talk, cook and laugh with him, and get frustrated, mad and annoyed with him. He had that effect sometimes, but he had a heart of gold, loved his friends and family, He loved to share his stories, music and opinions which gave a lot of folks hours of entertainment. I miss him already, just thought he'd always be there when I needed a handyman, a dinner partner, advice or a laugh. Gone but not forgotten...hugs & prayers, Laurabeth
