In Loving Memory of Cruz Morin Gamboa September 14, 1933 – August 11, 2025.
With heavy hearts, we share that Cruz Morin Gamboa, 91, of San Vicente, Mexico, passed away on August 11, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family at his home in Midland, Texas. He lived a long and blessed life, marked by his unwavering faith, deep love for his family, and a legacy of kindness and service.
Cruz was born on September 14, 1933, in San Vicente, Mexico, to Juan and Gabriela Gamboa. Cruz’s life reflected his strong commitment to his faith and his family. He found his greatest joy in serving the Lord and sharing that love with those around him. His devotion to his church and his unshakable faith shaped not only his own journey but touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Cruz had a heart that welcomed everyone. He deeply cherished his church family, finding purpose and fulfillment in worshiping and serving alongside them. The bonds he built within the congregation became as close as family. To Cruz, every member of his church was loved as if they were his own, and his faith and fellowship left a lasting imprint on the church he called home. His quiet strength, gentle spirit, and love for God were evident in the way he lived his life every single day.
He was a man who believed in the value of hard work, humility, and gratitude. His stories, wisdom, and warm laughter will be remembered fondly by all who spent time with him. Whether he was sharing a meal, offering words of encouragement, or simply sitting with a loved one in need, Cruz gave of himself wholeheartedly and without hesitation.
Cruz is survived by his two beloved children, Ramon Gamboa and his wife Christi, and Gabriella G. Franco and her husband Cesar. He was a proud grandfather to 12 grandchildren: Jessica Jackson, Kayla Salazar, Amy Gamboa, Matthew Gamboa, Stephanie Leyva-Portillo, Justin Gonzales-Leyva, Cristina Gamboa, Samantha Gamboa, Philip Gamboa, Saul Gamboa Jr., Nick Gamboa, and Alex Gamboa. He was also blessed with 14 greatgrandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in his heart. He is also survived by his four brothers, Ventura, Bernardino, Angel, and Telesforo Gamboa, and one sister, Oralia Onate.
He was welcomed into heaven by his wife Cristina, his sons Blas, Eddie, and Saul, his parents Juan and Gabriela, and his siblings Benina, Julia, Jesusita, Francisco, and Nastacio. While his passing leaves an unfillable void, the family takes comfort in knowing he is now reunited with his loved ones and resting in the presence of the Lord he so faithfully served.
The viewing for Cruz will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, from 2PM – 9PM at Lawallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home in Midland, Texas. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 10AM, at La Iglesia Bautista de La Communidad at 5200 W. Illinois Ave. in Midland, TX. Graveside services will follow at Fairview Cemetery at 1620 N. A Street in Midland, TX.
Pallbearers will be his cherished grandchildren Matthew and Justin; Grand son-in-law Enrique; son-in-law Cesar Franco; and adopted family members Isac Hernandez and Efren Villa.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Angel Care Hospice of Midland, whose compassion and dedication provided comfort and dignity in Cruz’s final days. The care and support offered by both the hospice team and the family’s loved ones brought peace during this difficult time.
Cruz leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and service that will continue to live on through his family and all those whose lives he touched. His memory will forever be a guiding light for the generations to come.
