What a wonderful man Curt was. He was kind and caring as an administrator in Hudsonville Schools. Even though I did not work under his supervision teaching at Hudsonville HS, my interactions with Curt were warm and caring on his part, and he made you feel valued and respected. I have the highest admiration for the positivity and passion he embraced fighting the cancer he fought so valiantly in recent years. To the McDowell and Erdmans Family, I'm so sorry for your loss. I have many great memories of Curt from Maple Hill and WPHS. Always quick witted and funny and happy to help. So much positivity all the time, and a smile on his face. That's how I'll remember him. I know there are so many people he touched and affected in a positive way and many of us have discussed the great memories we have with "Mr. McDowell". From chemistry class, to sports to talking MSU. Curt: We will miss you buddy. You always shared a smile and spread some witty cheer or stories. You were loved by so many students, parents, and faculty, at Hudsonville schools. You were a man who really cared, and it always showed. Gods Speed my friend!

We are so saddened to hear the passing of Curt. He was a great teacher and had compassion for his students. Its amazing how many hidden talents Curt possessed. We knew he loved music and had fun attending a Jimmy Buffet concert with Curt and Diane. Curt was one of those teachers and coaches that will be forever remembered by those who came into contact with him.

I coached against Mac for a number of years, and it was always a tough fight! Curt was a good coach, an even better man, and touched the lives of so many in a positive way. RIP, brother.
