Curt was my Ornithology professor at Virginia Tech back in 1978; he was my favorite teacher - ever. The memorable Saturday morning birding trips seem like just yesterday. Curtis was always the gentleman - polite, friendly and bubbling with enthusiasm; he was fun to be around. He acted like a kid when he scored a professor's coup and brought the famous ornithologist, Olin Sewell Pettingill, Jr. to teach a semester at Tech. I visited the alma mater in '97 and '08; I was disappointed to find...

I knew Curt at Oberlin when we both played for the first Obie hockey team. Later, we were roommates at Michigan. I remember Curt as a gentle soul. He was courting Karen at the time and there was some competition, as I recall. He came home one day with a pie or cake that Karen had made for him. He thought that this was finally the sign that she had selected him and he was right.

I called Curt a couple of years ago to see if he would like to come to Oberlin for the alumni hockey...
