Not sure what to say?

Wow, frankly, a sad reminder. Such a remarkable athlete and colleague. My recently published book, REFRIGERATOR DOOR, actually has his picture in it. We used to play 3:3 basketball tournaments a lot! Gone way too soon!

I just recieved the belated news about the passing of my friend Curt. I've known Curt since I was 5 years old and was his friend all through school until we graduated from East Kentwood High in 1978. Curt was the first kid along with Mitch Idema in Miss Crosses 2nd grade class at Brookwood Elementary, who could make the fart noise with his hand under his armpit. I envied that, even though we had to stay in for a recess because we all laughed so hard when he did it. (I'm a pro now Curt, taught...

Dave Kielty, sent this site to me today, and after reading each note from his friends, telling so many stories, seeing all the lives he has touched. All the people he has changed for the better. It seems Curt has never changed, he will always bring sunshine into the room. I had the pleasure of being one of his many teammates at CMU from 1978 to 1982. I write you with heartfelt condolences at this sad time. The whole Geerlings family are in our thoughts and prayers.

I was shocked to learn of Curt's passing. I enjoyed his friendship as a fellow member of the CMU track team. I often recall fond memories of those days and experiences we all shared together as teammates and friends.

Not only a great athlete, Curt was a great person who enjoyed his friends & his college experiences. His hard work ethic inspired everyone around him, I feel he truly enjoyed the process of striving for "new heights."

In Curt's passing, my memories of...

I just heard about Curt's passing and I'm still in shock. My condolences to the Geerlings family.
I was one of Curt's roommates and also a teammate of his on the CMU track team. Curt and I had a ton of fun together... he was really the essence of life. He was always smiling and coming up with something crazy. I'll never forget him... he was a special one. His incredible zest for life was amazing and contagious.
My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

I just recently learned and was saddened to hear of Curt's passing.
Curt and I became friends when we were attending Brookwood Elementary School. He lived a few blocks from my house and I would ride my bike over to his house to play sports or kick-the-can with him until well after dark. Curt's brother, Mike, and my brother, Mark (EKHS '75)were also good friends.
Curt and I also played on the same football team from the little league Wolfpack until our final season of high...

To the Geerling Family....Curt was one of the nicest guys in our class He never had a bad word to say about anyone. He will be forever be missed by EKHS Class of 78

I had not been in touch with Curt since about 1981 or so. I knew Curt during a more carefree time of our lives. We worked a few summers together off-loading produce from semi trailers for AL Johnson and sons wholesale produce during a few early college years summer breaks. I also knew Curt while at CMU. We had some great laughs and worked our butts off unloading thousands of different types of watermelons from those many trucks those summers both in the heat of open trailers and in the...

When I heard the news of Curt's passing I was hurt deeply! Curt and I played in bands together on and off. He is such a bright star that god will never let burn out! Love you buddy!!
