Thompson-Lengacher and Yoder Funeral Home - Nappanee Obituary

Curtis Magyar, age 57 of Nappanee, IN, passed away Wednesday evening, March 25, 2026 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Ft. Wayne. Curtis was born on July 1, 1968 in Elkhart, IN to John and Judie (Bowman) Magyar. He was a 1986 graduate of Concord High School and lived his entire life in the Elkhart County Area. On July 16, 2016, Curtis married Chelsea Perrin in Nappanee. Curtis loved the outdoors, whether it was hunting, fishing, golfing, or a walk in the woods, Curtis loved being in nature. He loved late night conversations around the fire. He enjoyed cooking for family and friends; he was a master griller who enjoyed spending time with those he loved around good food on the BBQ. He was an avid sports fan; he loved the Minnesota Vikings and, through good times and bad supported his teams. Curtis would say that he “Loved his life,” he was a family man and simply enjoyed hanging out with those he loved. He loved his wife deeply, the two of them were soul mates and their love for each other serves as a great example for those he knew. Curtis especially cherished his role as “Grandpa Beard” and loved spending time with his grandson Finnley. Curtis is survived by his loving wife of almost 10 years, Chelsea Magyar of Nappanee; 3 children: Matthew Magyar of Attica, IN, Molly (Fiancé Jon Learman) Magyar of Granger, and Kari (Caden) Anderson of Nappanee; 1 grandson, Finnley Magyar and another grandchild expected in September; his mother, Judie Magyar of Jimtown, IN and a sister, Janet (Marvin) Miller of Bristol, IN. Curtis was preceded in death by his father. Visitation will be held from 2-5 pm on Monday, March 30, 2026 at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home in Nappanee. A funeral service will begin at 5pm at the funeral home with Pastor Michael Peterson of Maranatha Fellowship officiating.

Not sure what to say?

I met Curtis when I first started visiting Nappanee to see my wife Lori´s extended family a decade or more ago. Curtis and Chelsea were almost always present for those visits. He was incredibly welcoming, and I have many great memories chatting with them both and will always appreciate his friendliness. We are very sorry for your loss and will keep you all in our prayers. -Nick and Lori

Had the chance to work with Curtis. He was a good man & loved his family. RIP Curtis.

Curtis was like my big brother growing up. He lived next door to me when we went to Concord. I remember watching the Cubs countless day at his house. We played flag football, basketball, baseball, and went fishing. His mom babysat me in the mornings before school at Concord East Side. He was the best!!!

So fortunate to have worked and shared time with Curtis. Always a smile and shared great wisdom. Rest in piece!

rest in peace curtis
