Curtis Merrill Mitchell (known as Mitch to many) was born to the union of Roscoe and Johnnie Mae Mitchell on September 12, 1937, in Oklahoma City, OK, the eldest of three children. Mitch enlisted and served for four years in the U.S. Air Force. He was stationed at Luke Air Base here in Arizona. In 1956 Curtis met and later married Evelyn Joyce Walters. Mitch worked as the Planning Engineer at Allied Signal/now Honeywell Corporation. On Wednesday, September 3, 2008, our beloved Curtis Merrill went to be with his Master and Savior at his home in Queen Creek, Arizona. He leaves a great legacy through his most Caring Wife and Companion, Evelyn Joyce; sons, Dwain (Yvonne), of New York City and Curtis Mitchell III of Mesa; his only daughter, Robin Williams of Aloha, Oregon; one sister, Zelda Ford and one brother, Lewis Mitchell, both of Oklahoma City, OK; ten grandchildren, Jaime Mitchell, Mitchell, Whitney, Jordan, Kendall and Ashley Williams, Mary Elizabeth Escarsega (Joiquin), Tyrell, Curtis IV and Beverly Mitchell; four great grandchildren, Ajonny and Darion Escarsega, Mariah Lewis and Avery Williams, and a host of other family and friends. Funeral services will be Friday, Sept. 12 at 10:00 am, with viewing at 9:00 am, at Tempe Mortuary, 405 E. Southern Ave., Tempe. Full military interment will follow at the National Cemetery, Phoenix. Special appreciation is extended to Banner Hospice Staff, Beverly, Linda, Tonya, Candice, Tiera, Albert, Candice K, Tammy, Charlie and John. Special Acknowledgement also goes out to all Evelyn's Sisters for their constant care concern and giving of themselves. Yes Mitch, You will be greatly missed by all.
