Not sure what to say?

It has now been almost 59 years since the Eugene Class of 1964 said goodbye to high school and took our first steps in adult life. Curtis Norfleet had been the baskeball coach all four years and superintendent for the last two years. He was a firm but fair administrator and, In my opinion, one of, if not the best coaches the school has ever had.

Curt Norfleet---an early in life true hero of mine. An engaging man of true dignity and poise. He understood what it took for a young person to reach their full potential, and how to communicate that message to them. Curt had a very rare ability to show kindness and consideration in combination with discipline and hard work to reach one's goals. Curt was a great inspiration to me. The world is a better place for what he left with us. Thanks, Curt, for all that I learned from you by your...

Dear Veta and kids, I was your neighbor for many years on Crestmere Ct. Mr Norfleet was my principal at Southwest Elem. I,m sure you remember my parents Bill and Carolyn Hendricks. My Dad used to play with little Curtis all the time. They are doing fine here in Texas. We are all so sorry to here of Mr Norfleets passing. He was such a nice person. God will take care of him.You can be sure of that. God Bless you all.

Veta,
Sorry to hear about Curt. Just wanted you and your family to know you are in our thoughts and prayers, may God bless you all.

We extend our sympathy to the entire family. We knew Curt very well, thru the school.

Curtis Norfleet (We always called him "Mr. Norfleet) was the coach, and also school superintendent, at Cole R-V School during most of my high school days, 1960-64. He coached some of Eugene's greatest basketball teams, including the 1964 team that finished with a 25-4 record.

Mr. Norfleet was personable, energetic and a firm disciplinarian. I well recall how that he was determined that the kids not be destructive of the brand new school that the parents had voted for and built in...

Curt was a dear friend of our family. Even though our parent's are gone, they were very fond of Curt, as we all were. He will be greatly missed. We're sorry to hear of his passing and we extend our deepest sympathies to his family and friends.

my deepest sympothies for the passing of your husband and father. though i was a first and second grader when he was coach/principal at eugene. i had respect for him though the phrases of my older brothers. i remember the student body was sad when he left eugene to work in the jefferson city school system. i sincerely believe that no principal was better loved or respected since he left. may you find comfort by the many friends and lives that he touched throughout his lifetime.

Very sorry loss of Curtis, He is great Basketball coach and great man. I never forgot in 1961 all basketball games that I play under him. Last time I saw him was on April 2006 was great spoke with him and happy to see him. Thought of you all and Prayers.
