Curtis E. Schneck, 84, of Schnecksville, died Wednesday, October 18, 2017 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Shirley A. (Schneck) Schneck to whom he was married 60 years last May 4. Born in Allentown, October 17, 1933, Curtis was the son of the late Paul J. Sr. and Leona C. (Eyer) Schneck. He graduated from Parkland High School, Class of 1951, and Penn State Allentown Campus with a Building Construction Degree. One of the most respected home builders in the Lehigh Valley, Curtis founded Curtis E. Schneck, Inc., Building Contractor, in Schnecksville, in 1964. During his tenure, he developed the following communities: Crestwood Heights, Wayside Manor II, Meadowview Farms, Westfield Knoll, and Fairland Farms in North Whitehall and Washington Townships. His accomplishments and memberships include, past president in 1974-75 and life director of the Lehigh Valley Home Builders Association serving on various committees throughout the years; a member of the Pennsylvania State and National Home Builders Association serving on various committees and was a life director of the state association. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Housing Research Center at Penn State University, serving on the operations committee and industry advisement committee. Curtis was a member of the Lehigh County Technical Institute (LCTI) Carpentry Advisory Committee and Executive Council. He was a past master of Schnecksville Grange #1684, where he served on many committees, member of Slatington Lodge # 440, F. & A.M., co-founder of the Upper Lehigh Historical Society, member of the Lehigh County Land Preservation Board. He was a member of Union Evangelical Lutheran Church, Schnecksville where he served on many committees, including the building committee, and served on the church council for a total of 9 years. Curtis was a Parkland High School Distinguished Alumni of the Year inductee in 2015. He was the president of the Schneck Family Reunion for 38 years. Survivors: In addition to his loving wife, Shirley; daughters, Judy A. Rau (Edward), Lynn E. Caulkins (Edward) both of Schnecksville, Debra L. Kerins (James) of Grasonville, MD; brother, Paul J. Schneck, Jr. (Janet) of Camby, IN; sister-in-law, Carol J. Schneck of Schnecksville; grandchildren, Tricia, Amanda, Jenna, James Patrick, Megan, Alexandra, and Marisa; great grandchildren, Andrew and Ava; predeceased by a brother, David E. Schneck. Services: Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Monday, October 23, 2017 in the Union Evangelical Lutheran Church, 5500 PA Route 873, Schnecksville with the Rev. Mark E. Swanson officiating. Family and friends may pay their respects from 5 - 9:00 pm. Sunday in the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville and 9:30 - 10:45 am. Monday in the church narthex.
