Not sure what to say?

Branden, I am so sorry for your loss. I just saw this. It was a rough year for Cummings Drive...Maury, my father (Harold), and your dad. Good men.

I learned only yesterday of the passing of Curt Sprenger as a result of googling him, as I do people whom I have known in my lifetime but have long lost contact with.

I was in the choir rehearsal room at SRJC in 1972, awaiting the start of Concert Choir rehearsal when Dr. Sprenger entered the room on his first day as the director of choral activities at SRJC. Immediately after finishing the taking of roll, he pronounced:

I intend to make this the best choir in Northern...

It is very heartwarming to read loving comments by friends and students. I, too, was greatly influenced by Curt when I moved to the area in the early 1970's. We sang together for many years and he urged me to start teaching voice. I have him to thank for a rewarding career of over 30 years.
I'm sorry I did not have a chance to visit with him as I moved back to the area recently and yesterday learned of his passing. He truly lives on in the lives of his multitude of musical friends.

Doc took my love for classical music and, along with Robert Young, coaxed me into becoming a singer. He taught me that listening to other recorded sopranos was training my ear to tone and vibrato styles and general vocal acrobatics. I loved borrowing his LP's of Callas, Horne and Caballe from his huge collection at his SRJC office... He told me I had a beautiful voice like a bird in a cage that needed to be let out and freed. What a blessing to have had him be a part of my life. May heaven...

This man taught me to love all genres of music in my senior year at MHS... Music Appreciation. He was truly an amazing teacher. A life well lived Dr. Sprenger... your voice will heard for a very long time.

I was asked to sing a solo titled "The Song Of The Meadowlark" when in the SRJC Chamber singers led by Curtis Sprenger back in 83 & 84. His professional expertise, passion to bring out our best, and personal encouragement to me to "sing on" played a vital part in my life both then and now. I am grateful. Thank you "Doc".

May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your fields, until we meet again, and may God hold you in the palm of his hand.

Thanks for teaching me the gift of music. The heavens welcomed home a great man who gave his all for his students.

Thanks for giving me some of the best times of my life. You taught me how to sing and share the gift with others. Iknow the heavens welcomed a new choir director.
Thanks from all your students
