I remember Mr. Springer's smile most of all. My memories of John's dad on my visits to their house on Bankhead in Montgomery back in the 60's were that he was always cheerful and happy. John, that's also how I remember our relationship as well. Always happy and pleasant. May Mr. Springer's happiness now be that of a child who is with his heavenly Father hearing Him say, "Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of your master."
John, you are in my prayers.

I had known Curtis, as of the date of his death, probably longer than any other living person. We lived across South 29th Street from each other, beginning when we were 3 or 4 years old. He was a fine boy and a great young man, a role model for his piers. I didn't have the good fortune to see Curtis very often in recent years, in view of the fact that he lived in Montgomery, and I in Birmingham, but we did communicate by phone and mail.
