Curwood "Curly" Reynolds

Martha,
I am so very sorry to be late in posting this but I only just heard about Curly's passing. Curly was one of the finest officers I've ever met. His no-nonsense and direct approach impressed me. The Lord took him in his sleep which is something we all can only pray about. May GOD Bless you and Shane during this time!

Uncle Curly,
I will miss you so much. I saw you seldom and wish I could have said good-by. I never got to thank you for all you did for me and my siblings as young children. I would thank you for giving me a love for the great outdoors. Until this day when I'm camping, I think of that horn you blew every morning at day break to wake us up.
I would thank you for the times you took us to Hobo Gulch and taught us how to cross the river holding onto a rope, and the many stories you so...

Martha; I will always remember Colonel Reynold as the no nonsense, caring, dedicated and professional officer he was. While working with him on the 40th Division team, we became close as friends and confidents. Those great times seem like yesterday, as we spent many hours talking and planning for ways to move our team forward in training and supporting soldiers. As a former senior NCO he was truely a soldier's leader, mentor and friend. His warmth and caring will be missed...but never...

Martha-
A major part of my life is now gone. Curley and I grew up together in the guard and the Military Department. The memories of both good and bad times are so numerous. Retirement may separate friends, but memories keep the hearts together. I look forward to again serving and partying with Curley at the big "Engineer House" in the sky. Martha, Curley's life was so fulfilled with finding you, but our lives were fulfilled by knowing him. I miss him and will remember him...

Martha, sorry to hear about Curly's passing. He was a soldier who cared for his troops and a father who cared for his sons. I found out the latter when I first met him in Hollister many years ago. The former as I worked with both of you over the years. He will be missed by all who knew him.

We will all truly miss him. Bill Fortier said it so eloquently that I can only add that he touched so many soldiers...he ALWAYS took care of his soldiers.

Barda & I were closely associated with Curly during my 35 years in the Calif. Amry Guard and afterwards. His didication to the service and helping others was known by all who met him. His pride in the The Guard and the units he was a member of was always apparent. He will be missed by all of us.

This is a sad time for the Guard and all of us who were touched by COL Reynolds. Janie and I both worked for Curly, and he encouraged me to marry her before she got away! He gave me my first full time job in the Guard. He loved soldiers more than any officer I have ever known. He was as comfortable with generals at a black tie event as he was with a sergeant living in a trailer park. Martha, we were all blessed to have known Curly, whose spirit was one of the finest and kindest to have walked this earth. I will always remember his caring, his mentoring and how he taught through his actions, not through his words. Thank you Curly for showing so many of us what a true man and an true officer is really like. May God bless your soul as you are walking with so many of your friends and comrades at you big reunion.
