Colonial Funeral Home of Leesburg Obituary

Cynthia “Cyndy” B. Norman passed away peacefully on April 23, 2025. Born in Michigan but spent most of her childhood in Vero Beach, Florida. Cyndy spent most of her adult life in Herndon, Virginia, where she dedicated over 25 years to shaping young minds as an elementary school teacher, many of those at Forest Edge Elementary in Reston.

Cyndy was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, and a cherished stepmother, sister, aunt, mother-in-law, and friend. She had a deep love for gardening, the beach, reading, dancing, and taking long walks with her dogs. Her joy was found in spoiling her grandchildren and her beloved pets.

In her later years, Cyndy devoted herself to caring for her mother and then her beloved husband, Ray, until his passing in 2017. Her compassion and strength were an inspiration to those around her.

Cyndy is lovingly remembered by her sons, Chris (Lauren) and Kyle (Melissa); her stepchildren, Alec Norman and Marie Hill; and her 10 adoring grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, June 23, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Floris United Methodist Church in Herndon, VA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Cyndy's memory to the Alzheimer’s Association https://act.alz.org/site/TR;jsessionid=00000000.app20112b?pg=fund&fr_id=1060&pxfid=964626&NONCE_TOKEN=033967B1B6AFF166DFE93502D5754FB4

Not sure what to say?

Please accept our most heartfelt sympathy during this difficult time. Cindy has been in our thoughts and prayers. The Norman family has been a wonderful neighbor. We miss Cindy and Ray a lot. Love to all.

You guided many young lives throughout your teaching career and shared your light and love for learning.

I had the honor of teaching with Cyndy for 13 years at Forest Edge Elementary in Reston, VA. Cyndy was such a dedicated teacher and such a caring individual. We had some great times together. My deepest sympathies are extended to her two sons and their families and to Ray’s family. I know how much Cyndy loved her grandchildren. May your wonderful memories sustain you.
