Cynthia Mitchum Obituary
Orlando - Cynthia (Cindy) Jean Mitchum of Orlando, Florida, age 59, passed away on December 28, 2017 after an arduous journey with Alzheimer's disease. Cindy was born in Charleston, South Carolina, but grew up in Merritt Island, Florida. She was a graduate of Merritt Island High School (1976), Brevard Community College (1978) and University of Central Florida (1980) with a BS in Business Administration. She retired from the City of Orlando after 29 years as the Business Manager for The Amway Center in 2014.
Cindy was preceded in death by her father, Barney L. Mitchum, Jr. and her brother, Barney L. Mitchum III. She is survived by her mother, Marlene (Molly) Mitchum, her sister, Karen Mitchum and sister-in-law (Deborah Miller, MD) of Chicago, Illinois along with her brother, Anthony (Tony) Mitchum of Cocoa, Florida.
A memorial service to celebrate Cindy's life will be held Saturday, January 13, 2018, Divine Mercy Catholic Church, Merritt Island at 10am.

Just learning about this. She came to mind out of the blue and thought I would look her up. We dated for a bit while she was at the Amway Center. Highly intelligent, loving person. So sad that something could take her so young. RIP

I met Cindy when I started work at the City in 1995. I was lucky enough to have Cindy as one of my clients and liked her straight away. She had such a sharp wit and I recall us bantering to where we would laugh so hard we were in tears. I loved that about her. I'm so glad we crossed paths and so sad to learn of her passing. I pray for all of us to carry on. I know we will never understand the why, but I'd like to think God likes her company to, and has a better plan. God bless friends and family.

I'm so shocked. Cindy was a great buddy and business partner. She had a great wit. I'm so sorry to hear about this and am praying for her family. I wish I could attend the service. I'm very glad and lucky to have known her. I'm praying for her family to find comfort and peace.

My friend for 30 years. So many laughs and stories. What a terrible disease Alzheimer's is and how cruel to take my friend so young. The last time you really knew me was July, when you told me to never stop calling you because I could always make you laugh. It was not the last time I called, but it was the last time I made you laugh. I will never forget you dear friend, but I will never hear your laugh again. Mike and I will miss you very much.
