Cyrena McMurry

We first became good friends of the McMurrys after moving to Fox Hollow. They were terrific neighbors and also incredible friends. Knowing that they both were avid walkers-hikers, we invited them to go with us on an adventure in New Zealand. We spent about 2-3 weeks traveling around the country, completing our journey on the South Island, where we hiked the Milford Tract for 5 days. Cyrena, Stan, Brook and Lee Ann lived across the street from my family (the Finks) on Larchwood Dr. in Dallas when the girls were young. As a teen, I remember Cyrena very well as a beautiful and generous neighbor who loved her family and her family of cats! I also thought it was so cool that she sang commercial jingles. Wonderful words. I get caught on the picture. Such a magnificent, beautiful woman. Elegant, yet prefer her in dirty cloths. Knowing she spent the day caring for all animals. That if you visited you knew you were a secondary priority. Smiling recalling Stan saying. "If we get to heaven and God, is a reagitated beaver. We are a shoe in." But my greatest fondness of Cyrenna is what I learned from being around her. Be yourself. And be confident with who you really are and need to do.

I will always remember the first time I met Cyrena; she and Stan had Vicente and I over for dinner back in 1995 at her home by the lake. I had not yet met Vicente´s own parents (Laura & David Leon) but he told me how close his family was to the McMurray´s. I am pretty sure Laura (Vicente´s mom & Cyrena´s lifetime friend) had told her about us. Cyrena was so nice to invite us over. It was a wonderful evening and Cyrena was the perfect host.
