Cyril S. ERPELDING

Mr. Erpelding was my chemistry teacher and he was an awesome teacher - I remember he used to tell us that the more he studied science the more he realized their had to be a Creator. We were all very encouraged by that and though someone got him in trouble with the school about that, I was glad to sign the petition most of his students sign that he should be kept in his role. Sorry for your loss (8 years belated). Today, I was talking to my son about how he was 'missing out' on some great hands-on experiments by having to take 8th grade chemistry online due to COVID19. Told him about the very first day in my chemistry class and the very first experiment we did. Told him about my teacher Mr Erpelding. He asked what he is doing now and I guessed that he wasn't with us. Glad he had a full life and happy to have had him as a teacher back in the early 70s. I had to...

My condolences to Cy's family. I have not seen Cy for decades. However,he made a lasting impression as a science teacher in Tracy, Minnesota. He was an excellent teacher who knew how to connect with students. I credit Cy for getting me in touch with science. He also knew how to deal with those of us who were rambunctious occasionally.

I am sorry to hear of Mr Erpelding's passing, He taught me chemistry in 1968 at North High and was also my guidance counselor. I have always believed that if it wasn't for him, I would not have been able to have the courage to go to the college I wanted, nor talk my parents into it. They trusted him as well.
