I am truly shocked and saddened to hear of Dabney's passing. We lived in the same neighborhood a few years back and after meeting at the Dog Park, spent some great time together running, kayaking and meeting for a few cold ones at Melitos. I will always remember Dabney's love of animals, nature and good music. He was the first one to introduce me to kayaking from Aylett to Walkerton on the Mattaponi. I'm so saddened to here the news but I know that Dabney is walking his dogs in the park...

To the Overton Family,
We are sorry to hear of Dabney's loss. He was our neighbor on Kensington Ave. for a few years. We shared a love for our dogs and Bandy Field. We would make sure Shadow stayed on the front step after she jumped the back fence and he was there for our daughters first birthday party. It is crazy to think that someone this young is gone. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dear Overton Family and Friends of Dabney,
Dabney was truly a special guy. From the day we first met (as freshmen roommates in college) forward his big heart and enthusiasm for life were present in everything he did. It is obvious that he has touched many through the years ... and that his kind, gentle, good humored spirit blessed us all. We are all fortunate to have had Dabney in our lives and he will be greatly missed. My deepest sympathy to Dabney's family and to all of the...

To the Overton's; Please accept my deepest sympathy and condolences for your loss. I am so sorry to hear the news. I was privileged to know Dabney at W&L and as a fraternity brother at LXA. I remember many lively discussions with Cabell and Dabney about the history of Virginia and North Carolina. This was usually on a road trip up or down the Valley. Those were great times. He was a Southern Gentleman and true Virginian who touched the hearts of many.

To the Overton Family and friends of Dabney:
Just a short note from the Bandy Field guy with the wide-brimmed hat: Dabney was always kind. courteous and friendly and lots of fun, as were his dogs. That is important and something that I appreciated very much after a day's work. I think that the whole Bandy Field crowd, (both two-legged and four-legged), feels that way. I offer my sympathy for your loss.
God Bless you at this time,

I first met Dabney in the fall of 1972 when he was in fourth grade at Aylett Country Day School. The best memory is of riding camp the following summer when Dabney and a friend opted for motorcycle helmets rather than riding hard hats. Does anybody remember that?
Dabney will always have a special place in our hearts. The Aylett Alumni Association sends its heartfelt love and sympathy.
