A great man lived by many.

I am very saddened to hear of Dale's passing. Though my relationship with Dale consisted mostly of business (he did guitar finishing for my shop for a number of years) our association was long enough that we became friends around that business. Always a gentleman, a family man, and a good craftsman. My condolences to his family.

Dale did lacquer finishing for me for at least thirty years. Because he was at the time a C.F. Martin employee, I felt privileged to have the benefit of his experience and expertise. I also enjoyed Dale personally, always friendly and generous in sharing so many stories of his work at Martin in the early years. I have several of my instruments that I have kept that he finished for me and treasure them as he did the work on them. I saw Dale about a year ago when I stopped by and sat and...

I saw Dale a couple of times over the last ten years , usually about guitar refinishing issues . He was always the nicest guy, and a well of knowledge about the work that he loved . May he rest in Eternal Peace !
