Woodfin Funeral Chapel - Murfreesboro Obituary

Gary “Dale” Davenport, age 68, of Milton, TN passed away Saturday, December 28, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Rutherford County, TN to the late Macon Brown and Mary Frances Madison Davenport. Dale was a 1969 graduate of Walter Hill High School and attended Hopewell Presbyterian Church in Milton. He retired from Schneider Electric in Smyrna, TN after 32 years of perfect attendance. Dale loved classic Chevrolet cars and went fly fishing as often as he could in local creeks around Milton.


 


Dale is survived by his wife of 47 years, Teresa Turner Davenport; children, Gary Shane Davenport (Shawna) and Carlye Davenport Cox (Bart) all of Milton; grandchildren, Wyatt Cox and Dylan Cox; siblings, Cheryl Davenport and Kevin Davenport (Kathy) all of Murfreesboro; nephews, Jacob Wilson and Corey Davenport; niece, Michelle Davenport Hale; special aunt, Helen Broughton of McDonough, GA; mother-in-law, Sara Brantly Turner of Milton; and faithful canine companion, Molly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his half-brother, Macon A. Davenport.


 


Visitation with the family will be Monday, December 30, 2019 from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at 1:00pm at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Mr. Bobby McClendon will officiate. Burial will take place in Milton Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Vernie Hale, Jim McKee, Alan Wrather, Wyatt Cox, Dylan Cox, and Jacob Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Alford, Charlie Joe Elliott, Wardene Hale, Drulene Frances, and Janice Benson.
