Dale Anthony Dawson, of West Palm Beach, Florida, born on November 2, 1964 in Moultrie, Georgia, to Eleanor "Angie" Dawson and Bennie Dawson, passed away at age 53 on May 25, 2018. He graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in 1987. He was an Inventor and Former NFL Kicker. Dale was the loving fiancé of Bonnie Izzo. He is survived by his daughter, Lauren (John) Culver; brother, Allan (Cecy) Dawson; and grandchild, James Culver. He also leaves behind his adored dog, Dallas. Dale enjoyed golf, fishing, water sports. The family invites donations in Dale's name to Concussion Legacy Foundation and On Course Foundation. Dale, loving, loyal, passionate, an amazing man, father, son, papa, brother, nephew, cousin, friend and cherished partner-in-life, went home to be with the Lord. Dale loved his family intensely and they returned that love. He was greatly loved by his fiancee, Bonnie, with whom he shared eight treasured years. He adored his daughter, Lauren, who was the apple of his eye, and he relished his new role as Papa.

Dale enjoyed golf, fishing, sports and being on the water. He had a lifelong passion for sports, which culminated in a full football scholarship to Eastern Kentucky University, where he still holds records and was named to their All-Century Team. After graduating from EKU, Dale had a career as an NFL kicker, but his greatest passion was inventing aids to help people enjoy sports, especially those who were disabled or struggling. In fact, he held several patents for sports training aids that he invented for this purpose. His heart was so big; he always wanted to help others. He was also an incredibly gifted and patient teacher, when instructing golf or other sports.

Dale lit up the room with his magnificent smile and commanding presence. Whatever he did, he did with his whole heart. His lifelong dream was to help his family and his love for them was the driving force in every thing he did. He will be missed beyond words in this life and will always be a hero in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Friends and family are welcome to attend the memorial service, officiated by Rev. Tim Smiley, on Sunday, July 8 at 1:00 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 9625 N Military Trail, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, 33410.

May God bless the family with peace that surpasses all understanding, unspeakable JOY, and the strength to continue life as he would want you to. God bless the family.

My sister, Suzette, and I have many fond memories of the exciting football games with Dale as quarterback, at North Shore High School in West Palm Beach in the 80s. He was a friendly guy who always had a smile for everyone in high school. I'm very sorry for your loss. May God bless Dale's family and be comforted by His love and grace.

My heart goes out to the Dawson family. Met Dale at EKU on the football team. He was a remarkable person. R.I.P my friend.
