Dale Earnhardt, 49, a native of Kannapolis, North Carolina, auto racing's "Intimidator" and a seven-time NASCAR Winston Cup champion, died on Sunday, February 18, 2001, from head injuries sustained in a last lap crash at the Daytona 500. Private funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, February 22, 2001, noon, at Calvary Church, Charlotte, North Carolina. Services will be broadcast live on Fox Sports Net. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Foundation for the Carolinas, In Honor of Dale Earnhardt, P.O. Box 34769, Charlotte, NC 28234-4769.

he was a nascar legend and he was my hero I got to meet him that morning before he wrecked

He is my hero and wished it never happened loved his job, Richard, Mikey, junior, and Dale Earnhardt inc not only that but his spirit moves on with jr and the family and carried steve to victory and eventually pushed dale jr to win at daytona the same year he tought me to never give up and be tough like the intimidator he was special to my dad and grandfather so i wish he was still hear and i wish he could give me more confidence and i hope I become a driver and when i do im gonna dedicate...

my dad loved whatching you on tv dreamed of meeting you and well hes up there with you so mabye he will still one day but drrpest condolences to dale jr kellie and the whole family form me and mine love yall.
