Dale Fortner

Dale Fortner, 75, of Bedford, died on Thursday, August 08, 2013, at 12:45 p.m. at his residence. Born February 20, 1938 in Bedford, Indiana, he was the son of Ray and Sarah (Stroud) Fortner. He married Ethel M. Carson on June 3, 1959 in Bedford, Indiana; and she survives. He was the retired owner/operator of Dale Fortner Insulation & Pest Control in Bedford. He was a graduate of Bedford High School, with the Class of 1956. He attended Indiana State University in Terre Haute. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church; American Legion Gillen Post 33; Masonic Lodge 14 F & A M; Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite; Murat Shrine of Indianapolis. Surviving are his wife, Ethel Fortner of Bedford; son, Ben Fortner of Mitchell; daughter, Sarah Lee of Bedford; grandchildren, Bobby Lee of Memphis, TN; Jennifer Lee of Los Angeles, CA; Nathan Lee and Evan Lee, both of Bedford; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, J. T. Fortner; and son-in-law, Robert E. Lee II. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 12, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with Father Rick Eldred officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery with military rites accorded by the American Legion Gillen Post 33. Friends may call on Sunday, 12 – 6 p.m. at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home, with Masonic Rites conducted at 4:00 p.m. Contributions may be made to the Masonic Lodge 14 F & A M in memory of Dale Fortner.
