Dale D. Smith Sr.

Dale D. Smith, Sr. 61 of Owensboro passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at his home. He was born on March 22, 1949 in Breckinridge County. He was employed with Green Coal Company and was a U.S. Army veteran Vietnam War. He was of the Pentecostal faith and a member of the American Legion James L. Yates Post 9. Mr. Smith was an avid NASCAR fan, especially Dale Earnhardt. He also enjoyed cooking, country music and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry (Joe) and Lilly Aldridge Smith and two sons, Dale Dwight Smith Jr. and Curtis Matthew Smith. Surviving are his children, Bradley (Ashley) Smith of Owensboro, Kentucky Shelley (Joshua) Brust of Owensboro, Kentucky and His life long friend, Brenda Smith Siblings, James (Bonnie) Smith, Owensboro, Kentucky Marshall (Janie) Smith, Owensboro, Kentucky Wanda (Sonny) Hagan, Owensboro, Kentucky Peggy (Sherman) Knight, Owensboro, Kentucky His dog, C.J. Nieces and Nephews Cindy Short, Derrick Smith, Kevin Smith, Scotty Smith, Barry Smith, Teresa Glover, Lisa Grayson, Allen Hagan, Terry Hagan, Shannon Scott, Troy Taylor, Stacey Taylor, Casey Ray, Lindsey Petway, Haley Riches, Audrey Roach, Wesley Roach, Elee Roach and many great nieces and nephews. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 12, 2011 at Haley McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home. Visitation will be at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday and from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday Reverend Jason Mayfield will officiate.
