WOLVERTON, Dale E. – Of Swartz Creek, age 72, died peacefully on Sunday, December 9, 2018, surrounded by his family.



 



Memorial visitation 4-8 p.m. Thursday, December 13, 2018 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.



 



Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 14, 2018 at Glenwood Cemetery, Flint, MI.



 



Dale was born on January 2, 1946 in Flint, Michigan, the youngest child of George and Elsie (Lawson) Wolverton and was a resident of Swartz Creek, Michigan.



 



He grew up in the city of Flint and graduated from Flint Northern High School in 1964.



 



Dale worked for McDonald Dairy and General Motors and spent over forty years in the real estate title business. In 2004, he created his own company, Wolverton Title Research.



 



Dale was a devoted husband, dad and grandpa. He was an active man and an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing in northern Michigan where he also helped build his parent’s cabin.



 



He loved baseball (playing Flint City League baseball with his brother), history (especially Michigan history and World War II history), old cars, traveling throughout northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula, and working around his home and yard.



 



One of his favorite hobbies was tinkering in his workshop, woodworking and building furniture, which still adorns his and his children’s homes.



 



Dale married Susan Quinn on April 7, 1979, at Woodside Church in Flint, Michigan.



 



He is survived by his wife of almost 40 years, Susan;



 



two children, Matthew Wolverton of Flint and Marcus (Morgan) Wolverton of Plymouth;



 



one grandson, Owen Hudson Wolverton;



 



brother, Calvin (Sandy) Wolverton of Ohio;



 



brother-in-law, Michael Quinn of Maryland;



 



sisters-in-law, Laura (Alan Smith) Quinn of Maryland and



Kathryn (Ron) Satow of California;



 



nephews, Scott (Renee) Wolverton of Davison, Patrick (Vicki) Wolverton of Indiana and Steven Wolverton of Flint.



 



He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Elsie Wolverton; father-in-law, Luke Quinn and mother-in-law, Rena Quinn.



 



In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Michigan United Conservation Clubs, 2101 Wood Street, Lansing, MI 48912.

Dear Calvin, I just saw where Dale died. I am so sorry for your loss and my prayers are with you and his wife and family. I am Ben and Vivians daughter Karen. You might not remember you but I remember lots of good times with Uncle George and Aunt Elsie and you boys when we were young. Again my prayers are with you.

So sorry for your loss. Dale and I lived on the same street, LeErda, growing up. Always thought Dale was the nicest guy and am do happy to have known him. God bless you and your family and give you his peace.
