Dallas Lynn Chestnut

Dallas Lynn Chestnut, 91, of Fredericksburg, Virginia, passed away on November, 20, 2025, surrounded by family and friends.

Dallas was born on January 4, 1934, in Clay Center, Kansas, to the late Hazel and Dewey Chestnut. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Gloria Chestnut, and his sister, Betty Algren (Curtis).

Dallas was a pilot for Eastern Airlines for 23 years, and co-owner of Gallahan's Hose & Hydraulics. He served in the U. S. Army at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, from 1956 to 1958.

He enjoyed playing pool, volleyball, riding bikes and motorcycles, RVing and traveling. He was a multi-sport athlete at Clay County Community High School in Kansas; an alumnus of the University of Kansas, where he was a champion diver and a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity; and Kansas State University. He was a participant in four National Senior Olympics in his 70's and 80's, winning medals in pole vaulting, basketball and tennis.

Dallas spent his final Golden Years making new friends living at Spring Arbor, finding joy in ping pong, visiting with loved ones, and singing.

Survivors include his children, Paula Chestnut (Kevin), Kirk Chestnut, Kathy Baker (Mike), Philip Chestnut (Jennifer); sister, Kaye Chestnut; former daughter-in-law, Tracey Chestnut; and three grandchildren, Kelsey (Ricky), Karri (Alton) and Austin.

A service will be held at 4 p.m. on November 25, 2025, at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, 1621 Emancipation Highway, Fredericksburg, VA 22401. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior, from 3 to 4 p.m. Burial will be private.
