Sorry to hear about Mr. Blankenship......He seemed like such a straight forward and kind man. His pockets are full of treasure now....

Dan became such an inspiration to others through his tenacity and his love for the island. Dan was more than a treasure hunter. Dan had a way of bringing you into his family though it was only TV but he was so personable you couldn't help but be drawn in. Dan had a love for family and friends that could be felt in every episode he was in. Dan, I was blessed to have "known" you. You will be truly missed. Thank you for sharing you love and inspiring us. Our heart and prayers to David...

So sorry to hear about the loss of Dan. He was the Daddy of the Oak Island family and he has also been a part of our family whilst watching from the UK, The Curse of Oak Island over the last 6 years. Will miss seeing him. I thought the tribute to him on the show was very moving and fitting.

I'm so very sorry for your loss

The heart of Oak Island, he will be missed greatly by all. Although, we never met, watching the show, made it as if Mr. Blankenship was a member of the family, as well as everyone else associated with the show.

One of the only programs I watch on TV is oak island and this news has made a big hole (excuse the pun) in the search for the treasure. Hopefully his knowledge, determination and love for the legend lives on as I'm sure it will. A great face, will be missed by everyone.

Much love

Phil, the lizard Cornwall.

Just finished watching the season finale and as Dan drove away from the war room on his golf cart I thought at 95 years I pray they find the treasure he has spent over half his life searching for before he passes. I was shocked to then discover he was already gone.
Oak Island has lost a colossus of treasure hunting. R.I.P. Dan. My heartfelt condolences to Dave , family and all the team on Oak Island . Keep the faith.

So sad for the loss of a good man
