Eisenhour Funeral Home - Blanchard Obituary

Danny Wayne “Dan” Clymer, 72, of Blanchard, passed away on July 30, 2024 at Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City. The son of Troy Wilford And Wynema Isabelle (Rogers) Clymer, Dan was born in Ridgecrest, California on May 4, 1952.

Dan married the love of his life, Jacqueline (Smith) Clymer on November 21, 1970.  He served in the United States Navy where he worked in electronics and electricity on the submarines.  Dan used these skills when he was recruited to work for the OKC Fire Department in the radio shop.  After four years, he transferred to the firefighting side of the fire department where he rose to the rank of Major before retiring after twenty-eight years of service. During his time on the Fire Department, he was charge of the hazardous materials unit.   Dan also owned and operated Home Modernizers, a construction company that specialized in doing remodels and addons.  They moved to Blanchard I980 to make their home.

Dan’s most enjoyable role was that of Papa.  After retirement, he took on this role completely for all seven grandkids.  They were constantly at his house, taking trips to Panama City, Branson, and Silver Dollar City. Because he loved his grandchildren, he would ride the roller coasters over and over again with them, although he didn’t care for roller coasters himself.  Whatever they needed, he would make or build.  He loved teasing with them, especially with Bailey whom he affectionately called “Boy.”  Dan enjoyed sitting on his back porch, drinking his coffee, and checking on Nana.  He was everyone’s biggest cheerleader and greatly loved each family member.  He will be immensely missed by his family and all that knew him.

Dan is preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Danny Joe Clymer.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Jackie Clymer of Blanchard; one son, Stephen Clymer and wife Amy of Blanchard; two daughters, Shannon Clymer and Christie Miller and husband Jason all of Blanchard; seven grandchildren, Katelyn Burnough and husband Marcus, Brianna Clymer, Hunter McDonald and wife Lindsey, Bailey Freeman, Brooklyn Clymer, Sierra Miller and Jacie Miller;  three great grandchildren, Keyton, Kache, and Rainleigh; siblings, Steve Clymer and wife, Lori of Oklahoma City, Tommy Clymer and wife Tammy of Tahlequah,  Joy Keeslar and husband Daniel of Arkansas, and Janie Edwards and husband Darrel of Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews; and many other loved ones and friends.

Viewing for family and friends will be from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday at the funeral home.  Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Blanchard.  Burial will follow in the Blanchard Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard.  Online obituary and guestbook are available at www.eisenhourfh.com.
