CADILLAC — Dan's spirit was reunited April 19, 2007, with the spirit of Rosetta "Zetty," his wife and true love, who predeceased him on Jan. 20, 1977.

Dan was born Oct. 17, 1929, to Claude "Deke" and Anna Curtiss, in Traverse City. After attending Albion College, Dan served honorably in the U.S. Coast Guard. Upon his discharge, he followed in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, becoming a court reporter. Dan pioneered electronic reporting in the State of Michigan.

Dan greatly enjoyed his children and especially the time spent with his grandchildren.

His favorite pastimes included driving his Jaguar with the top down, listening to classical music, attending the theatre and experimenting in his electronics lab.

He is survived by his children, Dave (Kathy) Curtiss, Jed (Debbie) Curtiss, Joel Curtiss, Shelley (Paul) Scott; grandchildren, Ande Curtiss, Leslie Felsk, Jessalynn Yowell, Betsy Scott, Athena Curtiss; and his great-grandchildren, Calum Curtiss and Aadin Yowell. He is also survived by his sister, Joie (Ernie) Hill.

A celebration of Dan's life will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 5, at his home at 455 E. Cass Street, Cadillac.

In honor of Dan's love of all children, donations may be made in Dan's memory to Operation Smile, 6435 Tidewater Drive, Norfolk, VA 23509.

Not sure what to say?

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of the lives that have been touched by him and esp. to our friend Ande who has cared so much for him over the past few years. From what we've read and learned about him he sounded like a pretty cool cat. May God's peace be with you all.

Dear Family,
I knew Dan and Zetty when I was a young woman and they were a young couple. Both were delightful people. I have thought of them often over the years.
