Not sure what to say?

Stevie, My heart goes out to you, your Uncle Nick and your cousin Laura--the CA family I know best. I will never forget when your dad brought you and Laura out for my youngest daughter's wedding--you couldn't have been more than 3. He opened up the shoebox containing your new "wedding" shoes and the clerk had put in 2 left shoes! You came in your sneakers and were perfectly adorable. Your dad handled it with his usual humor and aplomb. Love, your cousin Barbara

I knew Dan from way back and have very fond memories of him. I was very sad to hear of his passing and my heart goes out to all of his family and friends.

Knew this very good and humerous person briefly and will miss him

So sorry to hear this news. I knew Dan and his family back in Placentia. A story his mom used to tell was about when big brother Nick went off to kindergarten, a bereft little Dan asked, "but what will I use for a brother?"

I graduated from high school with Dan in Placentia, CA... he was one of the nicest guys around, and even then, we knew he would go on to great things. I'm so sorry for your loss, and my prayers and thoughts are with you.

I had the privilege of working for Dan at Universal. He was lovely to work for, kept us entertained with his wonderful sense of humor and always had a kind word. He was especially helpful when I was going through my divorce and offered great advice; when I met my current husband, he was delighted and attended our wedding. He will always have a special place in my heart and my prayers go out to his son and family.

Steven,
Your Dad was just the sweetest man in the world. I worked for him at NBC in current drama and drama development. He was an exceptional teacher and knew how to separate the good from the bad in everything he did. He taught me so much about tv series and working with those wacky tv people. He is already sorely missed. My sincere condolences to you and your family.

I was so sad to see his obituary in the Times yesterday. I knew Dan back before he became a TV exec--in the late 70s/early 80s at ASI/Preview House. We were good friends back then, and we had shared a wacky sense of humor and I will always remember that and his friendship.
Dan, although we hadn't seen each other for a long time, I always felt comforted knowing you were in the area. I will miss you, old friend. May God bless you for you touched a lot of lives.

I met Dan 25 years ago at NBC when I first came to Los Angeles as an intern through ATAS. He was incredibly kind and caring. His words of encouragement haved stayed with me over the years. He was an exceptional person- humorous, intelligent and didn't take himself too seriously. Anyone who met him was a better person for it. He will be missed.
