Not sure what to say?

Attending his alumni parties, he never allowed me to call him "Mr. Franklin," but I never allowed myself to call him anything otherwise. A southern gentleman of great character and servant of the profession.

I worked as an intern under Dan in 1977 and part time for a few summers before graduation from UGA.

From the first day when he corrected me for greeting him as "Mr Franklin" to "Please call me Dan", I developed a great friendship and genuine respect for his professionalism.

I attribute my love for the art of landscape design to Dan, but more importantly, my tenacity to push an idea forward with little compromise.

I will miss the occasions when I...

Dan was one of the great figures in landscape architecture. I will miss his acerbic wit and his towering pronouncements on the fate and future of the profession. UGA will miss him as will all of us who knew him.

Dan was an inspiration to all of us in Landscape Architecture. His passion for the profession, ASLA, and UGA School of Environmental Design was true. He taught all of us how to be stewards of the land.....and a "pure Southern Gentleman"! While we will miss him, we will not forget him, for his LA works are exhibited all around Atlanta.
Thank you Dan!

To the Family of Dan Franklin:
How lucky you were to have had this wonderful man in your life. As spunky as he was, his heart was filled with passion and had the ability to reach out and touch all of us.--- A Friend - Sue Gentry
