Not sure what to say?

Ellen, just saw this. My sincerest condolences. I hope you and your family are well.

Ellen, so late to hear this news, and so very sorry. I loved living across from Westerville Avenue from you, and particularly loved the two of you and your delight in your garden. I can never see a heuchera without thinking of you. I´m back in Atlanta now, loving my garden. Therefore thinking of you.

I discovered this page late (2020) and by accident. I was one of those people Dan dragged to St Isl, and who wound up buying one of those boarded up abandoned houses--it actually took weeks of work --by Dan--even to ID and contact the owner. well, we loved the house, the neighborhood, and Dan, so we bought and moved in and followed Dan's lead on civic issues forever after. We lived in St. George in that house for more than 20 years, made great friends in the neighborhood--beginning with Dan...

Dear Ellen & Family, hello,

Perhaps this will reach you.
Please again, accept my heart felt condolences.
Just now reading through email correspondence with Dan over the past eight or ten years, (since the time that we saw each other at a concert that our group performed in NYC in 2010),
I realize that our connection, undoubtedly like all Dan's connections, has a timeless, open hearted, Spiritual quality.
Although we never spent any time together since the late 60's, the...

We "traveled together through a disconcerting age. ""Dan always a source of encouragement and inspiration Not long ago,Dan attended a concert of The Kansas City Sound at the Whole Foods Market on Amsterdam Ave.We hadn't seen each other in over 35 years, yet were perfectly "in tune" ;deepest condolences to Ellen,Evan & Garth and their families.

Your gorgeous soul... Beautiful & Brave.

Your potent POV on life and love has profoundly guided me and informed & inspired the scope of so many people's quality of life.

Your eloquence with words & thoughts & constructs and most importantly your ability to love from the soul.... has on many occasions left me in awe. Your impression is indelible.

As a kid - i got to grow up with our Brooklyn back-yards touching - and all the points of...

I have to tell everyone that Dan & I shared so many off beat ideas and memories and interesting critiques of one another's writing.I always relied on him to be thorough and loving in his appraisal of me and my statements and my prejudices.I just now learned of his passing, but suspected it since emails and letters had discontinued! Boy, Dan, I will miss you greatly!!

Dan was a close friend and correspondent for 52 years----we shared many personal stories and many off beat ideas. We held a hefty correspondence for the 10 years of my return to Israel with my husband.
I will miss him deeply and kept the majority of his amazing letters.
Cancer sucks! He did not want to suffer. He wrote that to me, and thanked me for my concern
