Not sure what to say?

For some reason, I was thinking of "Captain Dan" this morning and fondly recalling the last time I bumped into him at Dexter's Riverview Cafe. I recognized him from a distance, and he was kind enough to join my family at our table, though I don't suppose he remembered me from the 90's when I was one of his many tenants and employees. I am sad to learn that he is no longer with us in person, I but I know he will live on with us in spirit. Steve, you and your family have my sincerest condolences.

What a shock to just find out of Dan Kaplan death since 2018 and its 2021 almost 2022 i am in shock miss Lillian the caregiver who took care of Mildred Kaplan tamaracks florida

Although it's been more than a year since Dan passed I am just now getting this news. I am very sad to hear that Dan is no longer around Ann Arbor. I have thought of him many times over the past year or so. It was a pleasure to see Dan at Chemical Bank every day. When he didn't come in we worried about him and would check up to see if he was okay. I will always remember Dan's passion for everything that he did. My love to Steve and his family.

If Dan's son Steve is reading this, could he send me an email at [email protected]? Thank you.

I was so sad to read of Dan's death and though I hadn't seen him for a number of years since we left Ann Arbor, I thought of him often. He had been a friend and mentor when I had a business downtown and we often worked on issues affecting the downtown area. I valued his opinions and his judgement and he helped me so much when I needed advice. He was a man of great integrity and always stood his ground. He will be missed and I express my sympathy to Steve and his family.

Dan, didn't we have fun with the boys downstairs (331 Catherine) drinking beer at Thano's. I will always remember how you tumble feet first into each new day, your enthusiasm for work, food, life unabated. I am so sad to see you go. Dan's family: I knew Dan long ago, graduated 1976. He was a wonderful man, and I am very sorry for your loss. I visited him two years ago at his offices, and he was so happy telling me about his grandchild. Best to all of you.

Mr. Kaplan thanks for sharing great stories of how you kept your longevity. Your smile was priceless and your life was full of passion. I'll miss you dearly and your friends at Chemical Bank. God Bless Pam Motley

Daniel you will be missed by the Ann Arbor community. I have never met a man who worked as hard as you did everyday. However I know you didn't see it as work, you were just being yourself and part of the fabric of your community. I am fortunate to have met you and worked for you in college which led to a lifetime of friendship with your family. I know that Yvonne, Steve and Chelsea will pass on your love of life to your beautiful grandchildren Asher and Noa. Blessings to you and your family.
