Not sure what to say?

Danny we still think of you. We do have your obituary in our home where we can see it and will respect you always.

My friend you will never be forgotten. We also have your picture nearby also. Prayers to you always.

I met Dan briefly in Africa. Not enough to really know him myself. But I saw how much he meant to our friends in common. I was shocked when I learned of his passing in Afghanistan, a land I hope to return to one day myself. I barely knew him, yet I still feel I lost a kindred spirit. My condolences to his wife, children, mother, family and friends.

remembering dan on his birthday 4/19

I met Dan at Athol High School. Our best friends dated for a while so we would all go out together. He was very nice and always polite and sweet. Earlier this evening, my mother mentioned a man named Leonard Kohlstrom that she once worked with in the Athol Town Hall and realized that was Dan's dad. I logged onto Facebook to tell Dan of this connection (we had no idea back then that our parents worked together) only to learn the tragic news that Dan had died. I am stunned and deeply saddened....

Mrs. Kohlstrom-
I met you and your son in the Worcester Galleria as he was looking for luggage to purchase for his entrance into the military. I worked in Brett's luggage store. He and I became friends via letters, he would send me photos of beautiful flowers that he took while touring some not so beautiful places and on ocassion hung out with him. However since then we lost touch. But I just wanted to share a nice memory of your son. My deepest sympathies to you and your family.

Beverly
although I didn't know your son
My heart goes out to you for your loss, I hope that some day you can once again find happiness in the memories of your son. Stay strong.

I am deeply saddened by the loss of Dan. His mentorship and inspiration will live on in the lives of everyone who knew him.
