Not sure what to say?

I am so sorry to have missed his anniversary; I have been in the hospital since January and just saw this page. But I did spend much of the day thinking of Dan and the rest of the family and the many good times in Lake Oswego and Gearhard. I am sure that this memory page has made Dan very happy, just as our memories of him do for all who knew him. All my love to all his friends and family.

I've known Danny Mahony all my life, and I can't believe he's gone. I really can't believe it.

My last big memory of Dan was at Bud Warila's funeral, but before that I really remember a visit he made to my father at Christmastime. My father had been widowed and was living alone. It was a lonely life for him. Anyway, Dan walked into the house carrying a big wad of money. God knows where he got that from! The only time I've seen anything like it was once when I rode the train from...

The world is a sadder place without Dan. We were married for 8 years and together for 10. And have been friends ever since. Dan was a one of a kind person. His stories --- Ahhh, his stories. He had the gift of Blarney. He would entrance his listeners with the tale and reel them in to the very end -- when the reveal would show that the tale originated in Dan's mind, not in reality. I loved to watch peoples' reactions to Dan's stories.

My favorite memory of Dan is his walk as he strode the halls of Astoria High School. So much positive energy and life! Seems impossibly long ago. My sympathy to all of his friends and family.

Dear Dan, Go softly into your next big adventure. To his family, my sympathies. I have known Dan since school in Astoria, and at the U of O. I was glad to catch up again at our last reunion. Warm regards from England.

Our sincerest sympathy to all of the family, including Marge and Waverlie.
Don worked with Dan and Max Bigby in the woods some years ago when they and Don worked for W-W Logging Company. It was always great to see Dan at the Loggers' picnic, as well. What a sweet guy!
Sincerely,
Don and Jean Brunner

My deepest regrets to Dan Grant Mahoneys family, from A. Eugene Piester, T/Sergeant, retired, 1400 Elegante Ct, Corona, CA 92882. A member of Dan's fathers P-51 Mustang Fighter Sqaudron, First Air Commando Group, India/Burma, 1943-1944. Lieutenant Colonel Grant Mahoney was highly respected and a much loved leader.

I feel honored to have Dan for a friend and enjoyed dealing with him as his parts and service rep from many years ago, to making rental deal up to this year.He will be deeply missed.

Dan was a wonderful, generous, thoughtful neighbor. If he had a tool he thought I could use, he would come over and offer it. He had a great, dry sense of humor, whether he was telling the story of the neighborhood goats, or the many misadventures of Skid. His straight-faced delivery of a funny story would catch me off guard and make me laugh all the harder. In Dan's final weeks, I watched in amazement as so many, many people came to visit. That Dan touched so many lives is an incredible...
