Not sure what to say?

I'm so sorry to learn of Dan True's passing. What a fantastic life he led... He was the TV weatherman when I was a child in Amarillo. His son Greg was a third-grade friend of mine -- we went to Margaret Wills together. Through that friendship we visited the TV set and I think we got to go up in his plane. Blessings and Peace to his family

My dad, Bill Smith, was Chief Engineer at KFDA-TV in Amarillo in the late 1950s until 1964, while Dan True was THE meteorologist in the Panhandle. As a fifth-grader, Dan made the weather fascinating to me, so much so that he arranged for me to be a Channel 10 weather-watcher, complete with official rain gauge. My science-fair project was on tornadoes, and thanks to Dan I had some of his photographs and National Weather Service reports for my display. Ever after, Dan True has been a...

Blessings to the family of one of the most awesome people who ever stepped on the planet! I have followed him since he first day at KGNC-TV. He will always be remembered for his honor, integrity, and friend to all. Dan True was a giant among us, never to be forgotten.

Dan True was my Father’s (Bob True) cousin, and good friend to my mother Sue. I remember meeting his entire family in Amarillo, but my favorite memories were running into him in the most unlikely places, or him showing up on my parents doorstep. He was always a breath of fresh air in a tiresome world: a smile, a story, a laugh. He lived wonderful adventures and took the most amazing pictures. We were privileged to get to know him.

I´m 68 years old and watched Dan religiously through my early years in Amarillo, when weather didn´t yet intrigue me but his stories and short nature segments certainly did. My dad was an advertising executive and knew Dan. I met him a couple of times at the golf course when I caddied for Dad and I thought of him as a star.... And he was!!! He brought so much more to his weather broadcasts than just reciting data. I attribute my current strong interest in weather to watching him. ...

I started as Chief Engineer at KFDA-TV in 1979. Dan had already moved along from there, but hardly a week went by that his name came up in some kind of fun, cordial, respectful way. And ohhhh the stories about eagles! Rest in peace, Dan True. It was an honor to have shared those call letters with you.

Alan and I are so very sorry to hear about Dan True's passing. We both loved watching him as a meteorologist throughout the years. I went to school with one of his sons and that makes it a closer connection. Our deepest condolences to Dan's family and those he loved.

I will always remember Dan for his weather reports, his books, especially the ones he signed, for his comments on my book, and our visits and time together. Dan was a great man.

I´m so sorry to hear of Dan´s death. I was a guardian on the honor flight the year Dan went. I enjoyed getting to know him. I remember when he skipped to the front of the line into the capital without his daughters!! He was a character for sure!! I will keep all of y´all in my prayers!
