Dane Rex Gordon

Poet-philosopher-minister-educator--Dane was truly a Renaissance Man, but was always too humble to see himself in such a light. I shared many pleasant moments and conversations with Dane--often during lunch--in our many years of teaching together at RIT. On an even more personal note, it will be forty years this coming June that Dane married myself and Audrey at the Union Presbyterian Church in Scottsville. Rest well, Dane, for a life well lived!

I first met Dane in the late 60s when he and members of the Rochester Poetry Society (now Rochester Poets) attended Writers Forum events at SUNY Brockport. We reconnected several years later when I was teaching at RIT in the early 70s. I was thoroughly impressed by Dane's kindness, wisdom, and generosity. He was an invaluable resource to a young college teacher.
