MARK,Sad on the passing of your dad...

As a member of Daniel Austerlitz's family, I would like to publicly thank everyone who helped and supported us through this difficult time; from Jill and Paul Sacks who opened their home to us, to the Austerlitz clan who have always been there for us and took hours out of their days to be with us, to the people who knew my father through school or camp. You have truly moved us and your thoughts and efforts are greatly appreciated

May the memories you hold dear help to soothe you spirits at this difficult time. I remember having Danny for a teacher and not being able to let anyone know that we were related. He was a very kind person and will be missed by many. The Family Circle picnics out at the camp are a very fond memory. Ilona Finkelstein Morris daughter of Carrie and Eli.

Mr. Austerlitz touched so many of my family members' lives. He was an inspiring teaching who was loved and respected by all his students and anyone who met him. I recall a story that my Cousin Charles tried to fail in school so that he could have Mr. Austerlitz a second time. May his family be blessed with beautiful memories. Arleen Harrison Kessler

I am sorry for your loss. We are given a bright hope for our future, everlasting life without the worry of dying. What do we need to do in our lives now so we can be confident we will see our loved ones again?

I met Uncle Dan when I worked at the camp the summer I graduated from Towson State in 1983. I loved working at the camp. Dan was a warm and kind man. I will never forget my experience working at Camp Holiday. Oddly enough, my husband and I took a drive up to Ski Liberty a few days ago and I was recalling all my memories from the camp as we drove past Bulter Road. I know Dan had a great and profound effect on many, many children.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Austerlitz family and their friends.

My wife and I wish to extend our deepest sympathy to the Austerlitz family on their loss.

"Uncle" Dan hired me in 1966 as a counselor at Camp Holiday; although, I first new him as Mr. Austerlitz my ninth grade history teacher at Pimlico JHS (class of '60). After receiving Jan's email about her dad's passing I realized that I had more "snapshot" memories of him than any other teacher from Pimlico: holding up a Time/Life book on ancient Egypt while using one of his hands to block out...

Dan had a profound influence on me as a student at School 18 and was always my favorite. He exhibited a variety of traits that made learning interesting, adventurous, and enjoyable, and at the same time earned all of our respect, which we probably didn't understand at that time. Later my children attend his camp and I was able to renew my acquaintance with him. Just a few years ago, one of my fondest memories is having my long time friend, Charlotte Parsons Snyder, surprise me with a...
